While working on the construction of a new nursery , bricklayers from Brestovany , a village near Trnava , Slovakia , found ancient human remains. After the unusual and unexpected discovery, the professionals thus decided to alert the archaeologists of the Monuments Board of Trnava and the Museum of Western Slovakia – who confirmed the discovery of the remains of a tomb dating back to about 4,000 years ago:

More detailed research has confirmed that this is a prehistoric tomb dating back to before the Bronze Age and containing feminine jewelry , such as bone beads , a copper bracelet and two willow -shaped earrings , the Trnava Monuments Board informed. The skeleton belonged to a woman buried in a crouched position on her left side. On the basis of the objects found and the character of the tomb, the archaeologists were thus able to classify the find starting from the early Bronze Age, in particular to the bearers of the so-called Nitra culture. It belongs to the most ancient cultures of the Bronze Age in Slovakia and its representatives are characterized by the gradual introduction of the production of bronze, an alloy of copper with tin already used, which has led to a metal of better strength and hardness. ” Discovering the tomb was a little different than usual because all the primary school and local kindergarten classes came to witness our research and discoveries ,” said archaeologist Peter Grznár . The discovery of the tomb thus turned into a live exhibition of the work of archaeologists and lessons on the life and tradition of our ancestors:

The kindergarten is located in the area of the Kaštie National Cultural Monument ľ a park (no. ÚZPF 780 / 1-2) in the cadastral territory of Malá Brestovana . The palace dates back to the period of classicism of the first half of the 19th century . What is interesting is its position on a slight elevation, which apparently also attracted a prehistoric settlement. This discovery has come at the right time, because a new monograph on the history of the country is being created and these discoveries can enrich it.
