China beyond nuclear power: the 100,000 Kw / h solar ‘super mirror’ power plant – VIDEO

12,000 solar mirrors in China’s northwestern Gobi desert . These are the characteristics of a 100MW power plant capable of transforming sunlight into electricity:

Located in Dunhuang , in the northwestern Chinese province of Gansu, the power plant works by means of a mirror which, through a receiver, concentrates sunlight in the direction of the tower, thus managing to concentrate energy for a total of 390 million kWh per year. . At full capacity, the plant can generate 100,000 kWh of electricity , what would allow a million 100-watt light bulbs to run for one hour. An ambitious project if we take into account that this plant will be able to reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 350,000 tons per year and to represent a real alternative to the much discussed nuclear energy . While in Europe still talks about “new and safe nuclear”, in China it seems that technology is looking more at renewable energies capable of avoiding the production of dangerous and problematic waste.
