It’s called the Deep Blue and it’s the largest white shark in the world. Despite their imposing size, great white sharks are fascinating creatures and essential to the balance of the marine ecosystem.
Although great white sharks are notorious for their bad reputation, they are actually animals that are very well adapted to living in the ocean. They can reach speeds of up to 24 kilometers per hour and have incredible strength in their jaw, which is equipped with more than 300 teeth.
Deep Blue is a female measuring more than 6 meters in length and weighing more than 2,000 kilos. Scientists believe she is over 50 years old and has become a symbol of shark conservation around the world. While not much is known about her current whereabouts, it is believed that she returns to the same area of the island every couple of years to breed.
